Great hiking, cave tubing and water falls can be explored among many other fun
activities.
The
colorful macaws (birds) can be seen during the months of January to March, in
the village of Red Bank, only 1 hour from
Placencia.
Further south Lubaan Tun and Nim Li Punit Maya ruins and the Blue Creek River
and caves can be discovered at your own pace. Tour guides can be found at each
location.
River tubing can be done at the Jaguar reserve/Cocks Comb Basin, only 60 mins
from Placencia. You can go hiking (Ben’s bluff is awesome) and later enjoy the
beautiful waterfall. Whatever your schedule…you’ll be able to have a fun filled
day.
Hopkins, a small Garifuna village sits on the beach only about 70 mins from
Placencia. It’s a nice place to spend the day and experience the local culture
or even continue unto culture capital Dangriga Town, about 20 minutes further
north.
The
humming bird highway promise many aahs, with its breathtaking views and
greenery. A major place to stop and take it all in or
simply take a swim is the blue hole. Experience the Caves Branch River. The
sleeping giant lays high above on the mountains. The drive through humming bird
highway from Dangriga to Belmopan takes about 60 mins. Belmopan is the capital
city of Belize. Find the market square and find some of Belize freshest fruits.
Continue on out of the city-only 5 mins and you are on the western Highway. Turn
left and head into San Ignacio, for archeology, caving, tubing, horseback riding
etcetera etcetera. The list really goes on for Cayo district. Turn right from
Belmopan and head to Belize city. |
