Path to Blue Creek Caves

Southern Belize - Toledo

Great hiking, cave tubing and water falls can be explored among many other fun activities.

The colorful macaws (birds) can be seen during the months of January to March, in the village of Red Bank, only 1 hour from Placencia.

Further south Lubaan Tun and Nim Li Punit Maya ruins and the Blue Creek River and caves can be discovered at your own pace. Tour guides can be found at each location.

River tubing can be done at the Jaguar reserve/Cocks Comb Basin, only 60 mins from Placencia. You can go hiking (Ben’s bluff is awesome) and later enjoy the beautiful waterfall. Whatever your schedule…you’ll be able to have a fun filled day.

Hopkins, a small Garifuna village sits on the beach only about 70 mins from Placencia. It’s a nice place to spend the day and experience the local culture or even continue unto culture capital Dangriga Town, about 20 minutes further north.

The humming bird highway promise many aahs, with its breathtaking views and greenery. A major place to stop and take it all in or simply take a swim is the blue hole. Experience the Caves Branch River. The sleeping giant lays high above on the mountains. The drive through humming bird highway from Dangriga to Belmopan takes about 60 mins. Belmopan is the capital city of Belize. Find the market square and find some of Belize freshest fruits. Continue on out of the city-only 5 mins and you are on the western Highway. Turn left and head into San Ignacio, for archeology, caving, tubing, horseback riding etcetera etcetera. The list really goes on for Cayo district. Turn right from Belmopan and head to Belize city.
